Hi! I’m Breanne, a mama, flower & fibre farmer, natural dyer and founder of Divine Colour Acres. We are a family-run permaculture flower & fibre farmstead nestled 15 minutes outside the historical downtown of Almonte, Ontario on 3 acres of land. As a small-scale farm, we have big hearts and dreams to share with you!

My Journey

My Masters Degree in Environmental Science along with working as an Environmental Analyst in the Canadian military writing human health risk assessments based on environmental factors - air, soil, water, infectious diseases, etc. - brought the reality of the devastating environmental state our world is in front and center.

I began searching for solutions studying holistic nutrition, homeopathy, yoga and then in the fall of 2014, I set off to Central America then South-East Asia followed by Eastern Africa over a 2 year period to study permaculture design, immerse myself with nature, live in eco communities on different permaculture farms and learn all I could about growing and living in harmony with nature.

I was on a mission to understand how we humans could play a pivotal role in helping to heal and regenerate the earth.

I had a vision…to partner with nature in regenerating the soil, and in creating a beautiful edible, biodiverse and productive ecosystem that was called home.

In 2017, upon my return from my global permaculture experiences, I worked as a regenerative coach and consultant applying my permaculture design trainings and experiences along with my holistic health studies to support female entrepreneurs in living a regenerative lifestyle. I also taught mamas how to grow nutrient-rich food in their own kitchen gardens through my Grow Your Own Nutrition Course and workshops.

Then in 2021, we found a place to call home with land to steward and rewild.  My husband and two daughters have been helping me cultivate the conditions for building soil health that I learned from my many permaculture experiences.

I had also become captivated by plant-based colour and its breathtaking hues that add vibrancy to the world of beauty, fibre, and art. Colour that was non-toxic for the environment created an even deeper appreciation and connection with the plants around me. The more I learned I began to see colour through a different lens, not only the colour of the plants around me, but also the colour they offered as natural dye.

Combining my passions for growing food, flowers, and fibre regeneratively, teaching others and connecting with our local community, along with my daughter’s love of plants lead to the creation of Divine Colour Acres - a flower & fibre farmstead.

I dreamt of creating a business that we could enjoy together, and ever since my daughter was a baby, we have planted seeds together, cared for the gardens throughout the seasons and smelt the new flowers that have opened overnight every morning. So here we are!

As ongoing learners, we are focused on soil health, ecological restoration, and land stewardship. We aspire to offer the most beautiful experiences of local, regeneratively grown flowers and fibre through our bouquets, dried florals, natural dyes and workshops.

You can find ways to enjoy our flowers at The Flower Shop and Natural Dyes. We also hope you join us for updates at the farmstead and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay in the loop of the happenings at the farmstead.
